Ghost Story...

It has been more than a week since I have last done any jogging, let alone running:( And I have been indulging myself in food and beer and wine. Well, I have drank half a bottle of Chardonnay last night while watching a Hong Kong TV series. I just love the feeling of tipsiness...

Though I didn't not jog or run, I played table tennis the day before yesterday for about an hour and a half with Elaine, and playing table tennis with Elaine has become more ana more tiring as she improves. Before we started our table tennis game, we were at Popular warehouse sale, which was at the Expo Hall 3B. I bought a few Chinese books and one of it was a ghost stories book.

And so, I decided to read the ghost stories after drinking my Chardonnay. The book consists of several short stories and I stopped reading after finishing the first story. Err... it kind of spooked me... But still, I am going to finish it, though slowly:)

I am not good at telling story but would like to translate one small part of what I have read yesterday....
A decapitated body of a lady was found at an alley and when the police arrived at the scene, they couldn't find the head anywhere near the body. And as the police couldn't find any document that can identify the dead body, they brought the body to the mortuary and hope that the somebody would come forward to identify her.

One day after the body was moved to the mortuary, an old lady and her daughter were at the mortuary. The old lady claimed that she believed the body belongs to her elder daughter and would like to take a look at it.

The two ladies were then being brought to the body by a CID officer handling the case. There was nothing strange about the old lady, except she looked frail. The weird sight was with the old lady's daughter. She wore an overall coat, and put on a scarf. Nothing strange if such attire was being worn during winter, but it was summer. And the way she walked, it was nothing but strange. And as strange as it was, the officer just brushed off what he had noticed.

The trio stood in front of the body, which was covered in a white sheet. The officer then pulled the sheet away exposing the decapitated body of a girl who to the most was 20 years old. The old lady wailed almost immediately after identifying the body to be her daughter's. Feeling sad for the old lady, the officer turned around and gave the 2 ladies some private time with the deceased.

When he felt a tab on his shoulder, he turned around and saw that the 2 ladies had already covered the body with the white sheet. He told them that since they had identify the body, they are required to go to the station for a statement to be taken. This time, the girl that accompanied the old lady finally talked. She told the officer that they would definitely go to the station for the statement but she would like to bring her mother home first before doing that. The officer agreed and they left.

Not long after the 2 ladies left, the officer returned to the body and removed the white sheet to check if everything was intact, he screamed when he saw that the body below the sheet was gone! He quickly ran out of the mortuary to look for the 2 ladies but they were nowhere to be found.

The officer started to recall what he had noticed earlier about the girl. She was walking as though she were floating in that coat when she first arrived at the motuary, but her way of walking became normal when she left. "It must be the head of the body that has come to claim her body, and walks away with it!" He thought to himself...
